Gardening tasks in Jira
- cheunger has asked for priorities on gardening tasks in Jira
Next few months
- MQL Extensions -- ETA mid-to-late November
- Offensive content review and rating (see below)
New website schema
- See Webpage Proposal -- needs community input
Offensive content
- Jeff, Kirrily, Jason, and Ariel met to discuss schema for Offensive content
- Earlier plan (sent to d-m list etc) was to have Bucket types for Restricted and Moderate content
- However, there are problems with this:
- can't use Permissions on type assertions
- some Freebase client interactions that we'd have to avoid
- Proposed alternative: bare properties
- In future, would like to have an Envelope parameter on MQL queries to specify what level of content you want
- JG and Warren confirm that bare properties are the best thing to do in schema to lead to this eventual goal
- Kirrily developed draft guidelines for what is Restricted/Moderate content, asked Freebase Experts for review
- Jeff to roll out schema ASAP
- Future work (in approximate implementation order):
- RABJ/Acre app to review topics flagged as offensive and assign them Safe/Moderate/Restricted ratings
- Gardening task(s) to auto-assign ratings to eg. films with genre = "pornography"
- the aforementioned MQL envelope parameter
- Freebase client to act appropriately wrt restricted content
Meetup plan
- Kirrily would like to help people run meetups in various places around the world (or get involved in existing meetups)
- Last week, set up Meetups page as a central place for information about this
- Looking at using Meetup.com's sponsorship system (which is good for meetup groups that use that system, at least). Sponsorship can be monetary, meeting space, schwag, or whatever -- very flexible.
- Will start running monthly meetup in San Francisco (Nth Wednesday)
